Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
A9 is an Android app-search app published by an individual developer, who is the data controller. Contact: [email protected]
2. Summary
A9 does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. The app has no internet permission, no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no crash-reporting service. Everything it works with stays on your device.
3. Data the app uses on your device
To work, A9 reads and stores the following data only on your device, in the app’s private storage:
- List of installed apps (names, package names, icons), to search and launch them. A copy of the list and their icons is cached on the device to start faster.
- Usage history inside A9: how many times and when you launched an app through A9, which apps you pinned or hid, how often you use each long-press action and, if you enabled contact search, an internal identifier (not the name or number) of contacts you opened through A9. This is used only to order results and menus.
- Your settings: theme, colors, window position and size, number of columns and rows, and similar preferences.
The following are optional and are enabled only by you in the app’s settings:
- Contacts (
READ_CONTACTS): lets you search contacts by name or phone number. Contacts are read into the device’s memory to search them; A9 does not copy them to its own storage and does not send them anywhere. - Usage access (
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): lets A9 see which apps were recently opened on the device, to show them first. The information stays on the device. - Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): used only to show the optional Quick Launch notification.
4. Sharing and third parties
A9 does not send data to the developer or to any third party, because the app cannot access the internet. We do not sell data, use it for advertising or profiling, or share it with anyone. A9 contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
5. Retention and deletion
- Data is kept on your device until you delete it.
- In A9: Settings → Clear usage statistics deletes the usage history; Hidden apps lets you unhide apps; unpinning removes pins.
- In Android: Settings → Apps → A9 → Storage → Clear data, or uninstalling A9, removes everything A9 stored.
- You can revoke the optional permissions at any time in Android’s app settings.
6. Security
Data is stored only in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read under Android’s security model. A9 has no network access, so your data cannot be transmitted by the app. Automatic Android backups of the app’s data are disabled.
7. Children
A9 is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date changed. Material changes will also be described in the app’s release notes.
